Gumball 3000: World Tour

Description
Gumball 3000: World Tour is the official mobile game for the annual Gumball 3000 rally. Prototyping began in 2023 and the game was launched world-wide on Android and iOS in 2025, developed at Road Burn Games (Sydney, Australia). I was involved in the project from initial concept through development, launch, and live operations.

Key Features

  • Automated unit testing, builds and deployment (CI/CD pipeline) using GitHub workflows with self-hosted runners.

  • Developed a semi-realistic 3D physics car controller, using camera movement and effects to create an engaging experience, with simplified models and auto-driving mechanics for AI racers and traffic.

  • Built an editor chunking tool that allows artists to build environments, and designers could string chunks together seamlessly to create hundreds of levels.

  • Created two campaigns with five unique game modes, car and avatar customisation

  • Utilised Unity Addressables for memory management, allowing hundreds of unique levels and dozens of unique cars and characters.

  • Collaborated with UI artists to implement designs in Unity, ensuring responsive layouts across all supported devices.

  • Implemented post processing, particle systems and shaders.

  • ​Integrated cloud saves with PlayFab (Facebook, Google, iOS login).

Integrated analytics using Firebase.

  • ​Integrated ad mediation (Unity Ads, LevelPlay/IronSource) and in-app purchase systems

  • Responsible for analysing and optimising runtime performance on a wide range of mobile devices.

  • Created the official Discord community, and engaged with players during alpha testing and post-launch support.
